About
Prevent Human Trafficking (PHT) was established in 1999 in response to the growing problem of human trafficking in Southeast Asia and the United States that PHT’s founder witnessed firsthand growing up. PHT serves victims and survivors of human trafficking by working with and supporting its partner organizations and agencies on the ground who are doing the best prevention work in the field.
PHT empowers individuals, organizations and governments to tackle the root causes of human trafficking through both direct support and technical assistance. PHT uses its expertise and networks to promote best practices and inspire sustainable solutions in the movement to prevent human trafficking. PHT has three primary programs and areas of expertise:
1. Advises and provides comprehensive anti-trafficking training nationally and internationally to dozens of groups, agencies and organizations each year.
2. Runs a summer study program to Southeast Asia that takes students from high school up to post doctorates and professionals from around the world to learn about human trafficking first hand.
3. Uses cutting edge technology to thwart human traffickers. Rapid Report and Respond (R3) maps human trafficking incidences in near real time and follows progress as SMS reports pinpoint suspected or actual trafficking situations that require action.
