Windustry is a unique and steady national voice for clean, local energy. We are a nonprofit, independent advocate for community and distributed wind. Our core programs focus on increasing the potential of locally owned wind energy and advancing understanding of state and federal policy toward an efficient, clean, and secure energy system. By providing high-quality, wind-energy information and technical support, we work to empower communities to develop and own wind energy as an environmentally sustainable asset.

Windustry began its work providing in-depth, wind-energy information primarily to farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. Since 1995, our work has grown to many areas of the U.S., where we work with schools, municipalities, public facilities, rural enterprises, small businesses, colleges, COOPs, and tribal communities to increase the opportunities for wind development that maximize local economic benefit. We work to remove the barriers to broad community ownership of wind energy.
