The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, provides free information and support services, and is the voice for all blood cancer patients seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care.About Us
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is leading the way in funding research to advance breakthrough therapies and ensure access to treatments for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.LLS has one goal: A world without blood cancers. As there is no screening or prevention for most blood cancers, we focus on finding cures for blood cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma.
LLS is saving lives not someday, but today. To date, we have invested almost $1 billion in research to advance therapies and save lives.
Thanks to research and access to better treatments, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, and even quadrupled since 1960. LLS research grants have funded many of today’s most promising advances, including targeted therapies and immunotherapies. Some of the therapies first approved for blood cancer patients are now helping patients with other types of cancers and other serious diseases.
But, despite advances in survival rates, about half of blood cancer patients do not survive. So more funding is needed to advance research and ensure access to treatments to help save more lives.
Anyone can get involved with LLS in many ways, from participation in fundraising campaigns like Team In Training, Light The Night Walks and School & Youth Programs, to making a donation or volunteering.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Awards $12.6 Million in Research Grants
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has awarded 21 new grants representing a total investment of $12.6 million to tackle six areas of high unmet medical need in the blood cancers. In response to requests for proposals (RFPs) from researchers in these six critical areas, LLS has awarded these grants under its Translational Research Program (TRP), an initiative designed to help accelerate the movement of promising discoveries from the lab to the clinic. Each grant is for a three-year duration with a total value of $600,000. The RFPs mark LLS's proactive approach to addressing the challenge of improving outcomes for cancer patients with particularly urgent needs.
