Our mission is to prepare experienced educators to lead high-need New York City public schools, provide leadership development and technical support for principals opening new, small New York City public schools, and support new and experienced New York City principals through coaching services that strengthen their capacities to accelerate student learning and academic growth. We also provide strategic consulting and leadership advisory services.
About Us
The NYC Leadership Academy is a national organization that focuses on supporting high-quality school leadership. Established in 2003 to address New York City’s critical need for highly effective school leaders who could turn around chronically low-performing schools, we have since grown into a national organization. Today, our graduates represent one in six of New York City’s 1,600 public school leaders, and collectively they serve more than 119,000 students. More importantly, our graduates are achieving measurable results. According to an independent study, elementary and middle schools led by our graduates demonstrate more accelerated growth in English, language arts, and mathematics than schools led by comparison principals. We also provide intensive coaching and support to principals and have worked with over 1,000 school leaders across the city. Nationally, we’ve helped school districts, state education departments, universities, and nonprofits across 23 states develop and strengthen their own leadership development programs and school leadership pipelines.
