There are 35 million homes in the United States that contain asbestos. Asbestos has not yet been banned in the United States and is still present all around us in homes, schools, city buildings, car brakes, and household products. Mesothelioma, known to be caused by exposure to asbestos, is a cancer of the lining of the lung, abdomen, or heart. Medical experts consider it one of the most aggressive and deadly of all cancers, with an average survival of nine months once diagnosed.

The Meso Foundation is the leading organization dedicated to eradicating mesothelioma and easing the suffering caused by it. The Meso Foundation actively seeks philanthropic support to fund peer-reviewed mesothelioma research, provides patient-support services and education, and advocates Congress for increased federal funding for mesothelioma research. The Foundation is the only organization that funds research solely for mesothelioma to help find a cure and effective treatment options for the 3,000 Americans diagnosed each year.
