The "I Have A Dream" Foundation empowers children in low-income communities to achieve higher education and fulfill their leadership potential by providing them with guaranteed tuition support and equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and habits they need to gain entry to higher education and succeed in college and beyond. By helping our Dreamers gain access to college, we are putting them on a different academic and life trajectory, while having a broader impact on the students' families and the generations that follow.
About Us
Since 1981, the “I Have A Dream” Foundation has worked to ensure that one day, all children will have the opportunity to achieve a college education and fully capitalize on their talents, aspirations, and leadership so that we can fulfill our promise as a nation.
We sponsor cohorts of 50-150 students in under-resourced public schools in urban and rural communities, and we work with these “Dreamers” from early elementary school all the way through high school. Upon high school graduation, each Dreamer receives guaranteed tuition assistance for higher education.
Our Dreamers often graduate and enter college at double the rates of other students in the local population, and they surpass the overall statewide average for students in their peer groups. Many of our Dreamers will be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college.
As we look to the future, we are committed to doing even more to ensure that our nation’s students have every opportunity to not just enter, but also complete college. We are now launching an ambitious new model – developed in partnership with some of the nation’s leading K-12 school leaders – to reach many more students and ensure they not just start but complete college.
