Mission Statement
The Houston Area Women's Center helps individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence in their efforts to move their lives forward. We provide shelter, counseling, and advocacy to support them in building lives free from the effects of violence. We seek social change to end domestic and sexual violence through community awareness and education. Our services are confidential and available to everyone.About Us
Each year, more than 60,000 individuals seek out our services as they cope with the effects of family violence, rape, incest, and abuse. We stand alone not only in the scope of services we offer, but also in the scale at which we offer them. Operating the only residential emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and the only rape crisis center for victims of sexual assault in the city of Houston, we are a nexus of hope and healing for a community rife with violence.Organization Mission Statements and About Us information are provided by GuideStar.
