A Christian ministry, Gracewood rescues single mothers and their children across the Greater Houston area by providing home, hope, and healing. As a residential Christian ministry, Gracewood assists single-parent mothers at risk of homelessness through residential care, mentoring, financial planning, teaching, counseling, and referral to community resources. Both mothers and their children live at Gracewood, helping the motivated single mother preserve her dignity while building essential life skills needed for successful independent living.
About Us
Gracewood is a residential program for motivated mothers and their children. With its focus on long-term quality of life improvements, rather than temporary solutions, Gracewood is not a shelter. It’s a home-like environment where family well-being is restored while moms work toward specific, individual goals, and families find stability and hope for the future. As an independent, Christian nonprofit, Gracewood helps single-parent mothers and their children through residential group care, mentoring, financial planning, teaching, counseling, and referral to valuable community resources, including education and job training. The original Gracewood campus, which opened in 2001, is located on three beautiful, wooded acres in a southwest Houston residential area. The Elmview campus opened in 2009 on three acres in the Spring Branch area of northwest Houston. Future plans include additional campuses in northeast and southeast Houston to serve the rapidly growing number of single-mother households.
