Mission Statement
The mission of Global Adolescent Project is to educate, encourage, and empower disenfranchised youth globally. The mission of GAP CREATE is to support community resilience in Haiti through peer education and counseling in trauma and addictions.About Us
The initial work of Global Adolescent Project was to settle teens left homeless from the 2010 earthquake, enroll them in school and provide emotional support. At the same time, we found ourselves doing numerous mental health trainings with both professionals and paraprofessionals in the community.As the kids grow and become more self sufficient, we have been able to turn our attention to our initial intent in going to Haiti; education and training in mental health. We started G.A.P.-CREATE (Global Adolescent Project-Community for Recovery and Trauma Education), an initiative which emerged as a result of our community education efforts and partnerships with organizations on the ground in Haiti and in the United States.
Global Adolescent Project envisions a global network of young people and professionals who will encourage and support each other. G.A.P. youth share ideas, interests, coping mechanisms, and educational tools via online communication outlets. They teach and learn about their different cultures and customs, thus becoming more aware of the world. Their solidarity will dissolve national boundaries and prejudices, leading to a more prosperous, sustainable, and peaceful world.
