The Family Giving Tree fulfills the exact holiday wish and provides backpacks filled with school supplies to those children in the most need in our communities while inspiring the values of kindness, philanthropy, and volunteerism.About Us
The Family Giving Tree envisions a world where every child is made to feel like a valued member of his or her community through a shared belief in the power of giving.The Family Giving Tree took root in 1990 as a class project with the modest goal of providing happy, holiday memories to 300 San Francisco-area children. Encouraged by the success of the program that first year, Jennifer Cullenbine was moved to continue and expand the program.
Since then, as the organization has distributed more than 1.6 million supply-filled backpacks and holiday gifts, we have become the largest gift and backpack donation program in California.
Back-to-School Drive has begun!
The 2018 Back-to-School Drive has started. We're aiming to collect and distribute 37,000 backpacks filled with school supplies. If you'd like to help, sign up to be a Drive Leader with your corporation, small business, community group or neighbors. You can do a physical Drive where your team purchases and fills backpacks with supplies. Or you can do an online drive where donors can "shop" for backpacks to donate.
