Mission Statement
Environmental and Energy Study Institute's (EESI) mission is to promote environmentally sustainable societies through transitions to social and economic patterns that sustain people, the environment, and the natural resources upon which present and future generations depend. EESI's goal is to be a catalyst for an energy revolution that moves us away from fossil fuels and toward a clean, safe, and secure energy future. To accomplish this, EESI educates policymakers and develops innovative policy solutions through coalition building, media outreach, publications, Congressional briefings, workshops, and task forces. EESI brings the best science/technology information, diverse perspectives, and policy options that accomplish multiple goals into policy debates on environmental and energy issues.
About Us
EESI has been a nonpartisan source of credible information on energy and environmental issues for the past 30 years. We focus on climate change, energy efficiency, green buildings, renewable energy, sustainable biomass, and sustainable transportation and communities. Our perspective is that:
* The climate crisis is urgent.
* The solution is achievable.
* A healthy climate and a healthy economy go hand-in-hand.
* Energy prices must reflect their true costs.
* U.S. leadership is essential.
EESI organizes nonpartisan briefings on key topics for Congress and the policy community. We produce timely factsheets, issue briefs, and newsletters. EESI helps analyze and develop sustainable, policy solutions. We reach Congressional staff, federal agencies, public interest groups, media, foreign governments, academic and scientific institutions, trade associations, and the private sector.
EESI is a nonprofit organization founded by a bipartisan group of members of Congress to inform policymakers about sustainable solutions. We have been a nonpartisan source of credible information on energy and environmental issues since 1994. We are a conduit among state, federal, local, and private stakeholders and a catalyst for innovative energy policies.
