About Us

Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) serves people in need in Appalachia through self-help human service programs that help transform lives. We serve children and their families, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly through more than 20 programs in 30 of the nation’s poorest counties. In eastern Kentucky, we have hands-on, human-service programs, such as summer camps for children, home repair/rehab programs, elderly visitation and transportation, early childhood education, a food pantry, thrift store, and family counseling. Three programs extend beyond Kentucky and cover all 13 Appalachian states: Disaster Relief, Operation Sharing, and the Appalachian Home Catalog. Disaster Relief distributes supplies and mobilizes volunteers to areas in Appalachia impacted by disaster. Operation Sharing is a corporate, gift-in-kind program, which collects and redistributes more than $100 million in goods throughout Appalachia. Appalachia Home Catalog serves as a marketing arm for 100-plus small-Appalachia businesses, working to help them grow to promote economic development.
