The purpose of the Children's Museum of Houston is to transform communities through innovative, child-centered learning.
About Us
With the mission of transforming communities through innovative and child-centered learning, the Children’s Museum of Houston (CMH) offers children, parents, and families educational exhibits, programs, facilitation, and outreach services to expand access to high-quality, early-education programming. Because our service to children has the greatest impact when parents and teachers are involved, the Museum’s programs are family-focused with strategic alignment to the skills that children are, or will be, learning in their classrooms. CMH welcomed 790,000 visitors last year, and we served an additional 155,000 children and parents through outreach programming offered at 248 Houston-area locations, including after-school centers, shelters, libraries, and elementary schools. Museum visitors reflect Houston’s ethnic and socioeconomic diversity, and, because 47% of Harris County’s children live at or near the poverty level, the Museum makes it a priority to provide free or reduced-price admission to visitors who might otherwise not have access to the Museum’s facilities and events.
