The Center for Children's Law and Policy (CCLP) is a public-interest, law and policy organization focused on reform of juvenile justice and other systems that affect troubled and at-risk children and protection of the rights of children in those systems.
About Us
The Center’s work includes research, writing, public education, media advocacy, training, technical assistance, administrative/legislative advocacy, and litigation.
CCLP helps systems reduce unnecessary incarceration of young people by screening youth entering the system, developing community-based programs, and speeding case processing.
For youth who must to be confined - for their own safety and the safety of the community - CCLP promotes humane treatment. Staff inspects juvenile facilities to uncover dangerous conditions, work with officials to remedy problems, and train local teams to do their own inspections.
CCLP also works with public officials and community members to eliminate racial bias and improve outcomes for youth of color by using data strategically, identifying system problems, and implementing effective interventions.
