Mission Statement
We defend the right of every Louisiana child to fairness, dignity, and opportunity. Our holistic legal representation helps young people achieve their goals in court and in life; we provide resources and training for juvenile public defenders statewide; and we advocate for a juvenile justice system that is fair, compassionate, and supportive of positive youth development.About Us
The Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights is the only nonprofit, specialized juvenile defense law office in the country. Our independence, flexibility, and focus have helped us to develop a replicable, best-practices, evidence-based model of holistic advocacy that makes a long-term difference in the lives of the children we serve – and that is reinventing defense advocacy for young people in the juvenile justice system.We envision a Louisiana where young people are empowered with the supports and opportunities that they need to develop and thrive in their own homes and communities; a fair and compassionate juvenile justice system that protects the rights and dignity of every young person; and a statewide community of skilled, committed, and fully-resourced juvenile defenders.
